Apple Australia Snow Leopard Launch – Friday 28th August 2009
Apple Australia will be launching their highly anticipated new operating system this Friday. The ‘Snow Leopard’ will feature a whole host of improvements that will have your Apple system purring with enjoyment. Mac response times have been vastly upgraded, with installations now running at twice the speed and shut down up to 80% faster.
Snow Leopard also features a quicker version of the Finder programme, plus improvements have been made to allow Exposé to be intergrated in the Dock to simplify switching between windows. QuickTime X and the new QuickTime Player are the latest generation of audio and visual applications which will allow Mac users an easy way to watch films as well as record, trim, and share media. Plus Safari 4 will be offering ultra fast web browsing at twice the speed with less crashes.
Snow Leopard will be available from this Friday and will retail at only $39 for the upgrade package for previous Leopard users. The new operating system will only work on Apple computers with Intel processors, and to upgrade from the Tiger operating system to the Snow Leopard will require the purchase of the Mac Box Set for $229, which also features the latest versions of iLife and iWork.
As I was writing this, I started to get a little hot under the collar at the thought of getting my hands on the Snow Leopard, until I realised I’m still working off a G5 Dual Mac from about 4 years ago…
time for a new computer me thinks!
