Rumour Mill Suggests Dell Latitude Z Series to be Macbook Pro Killer

The Internet rumour mill is currently on overdrive with talk of Dell launching an Apple Macbook Pro killer in the form of the Dell Latitude Z laptop. Rumours are unsubstantiated at this moment but message boards are alive with talk of a new Dell laptop which will follow in the footsteps of the Dell Adamo notebook by being ultra thin, but will have a little more under the hood for more serious small business computer users.

The saying goes there is no smoke without fire and Dell’s move towards more stylised laptops suggests a Macbook Pro equivalent would be a logical step in their continued battle for PC dominance. Varying reports suggest the Dell Latitude Z series will be about a half an inch thick with a 16″ widescreen HD.

We’re trying to grill our contacts at Dell but so far they’ve given us nothing but rest assured we will report right here as soon as we get an affirmative or negative as to whether the Dell Latitude Z will be a ground breaking PC laptop or Internet message board hoax?

Spoke to my Dell Rep. He mentioned the Latitude Z.
Confirmed it to be a 16″ laptop marketed at the executive range. “wafer thin” was how he described it – although that’s probably stretching it a bit He informed me it “weighed as much as a mini10″. So a macbook pro killer? Probably not – certainly with that weight it’s more likely to be an atom powered system with a large 16″ glossy screen. Ultra light, ultra large – interesting concept!

Hi mate,

Wow thanks for the post – looks like it’s true then as I’ve heard from a few other sources who have spoken to Dell Reps.

I guess the “wafer thin” size will come at a price but it could be perfect for those image conscious business people who want a PC laptop which is a step up from the 13.4″ Dell Adamo.

I’ve been in the market for something similar myself as I’ve got an old 17″ Vostro as a desktop replacement but to travel with it is a pain due to the fact that it tends to weigh more than my suitcase!

Latitude Z series wouldn launch at mid september as Dell newest plan goes,
I got this information from Dell side, it is very thin like apple. it’s color: blackcherry.
with SSD, 16” HD+ LCD… I have more information…
