Dell Inspiron 1750 Review
Dell Inspiron 1750
- 4 GB RAM
- 320 GB Hard Drive
- 17.3 Inch Screen
- 3.1 Kg
- 3 USB Ports
The Dell Inspiron 1750, which should be released by Dell Australia shortly, is a big comfy laptop that provides lots of performance, and given its size is very portable.
The keyboard however leaves a little bit to be desired, and we did find some problems that have resulted from its build quality.
What is great about this laptop is its 17.3-inch screen. The screen comes with 1600 x 900 pixel resolution. The picture quality is excellent, the image quality is so detailed working with photos and film is a pleasure, and working with multiple windows open is comfortable. The only real issue with it is that the shiny Super TFT screen results in frequent reflection distraction.

The key issue with this laptop is that build quality leaves something to be desired. The chassis panel flexes under very little pressure, which means that the laptop is not as durable as one would like and its very survival after a drop is questionable.
The keyboard has a spongy feel to it, and though the keys themselves are well spread, their action is a little clumsy, and it is hard to establish a good typing rhythm. However, the dedicated numerical pad will be very useful for those who regularly spreadsheets or input data.
The laptop comes with a dual core Intel Pentium processor and 4 Gigs of RAM, which makes it powerful enough for everyday use, and the laptop does not have any problems running multiple office applications simultaneously, nor is there any real drop in performance.
The only drawback we found despite the machine running smoothly the most resource intensive programs such as digital photo editing, is that the most demanding multimedia applications, such as gaming can only be conducted at the most basic level.
The laptop comes with an adequate 320 GB hard drive and a DVD rewriter.
Portability is fine, given the relative size of the laptop and its 3.1 Kg weight, but the battery life is an impressive 250 minutes.
The laptop includes 8.2.11n Wi-Fi which gives users access to the fastest wireless technology around. The machine also comes with Ethernet port allowing the owner to connect up to wired networks in the home or office.
We felt the inclusion of just three USB ports was a little miserly given the size of the chassis itself, and there is no HDMI port, instead there is an older VGA port, so external analogue screens can be connected.
Despite its durability and keyboard issues, the Inspiron 1750 is a comfortable desktop replacement that provides decent performance at a competitive price.
