Alienware Laptops- Lenovo Romps Home With Record Profits
Despite the broader market for PC’s declining by 14 per cent during the first few months of the year, Lenovo has revealed it broke records during the same time frame.
Currently the second largest manufacturer of PC’s in the world, Lenovo shipped 52.4 million units achieved a record annual sales figure of $34 billion and earned a pretax income of $801 million and achieved a 15.5 per cent global market share during its fiscal third quarter.

According to a news report in the Wall Street Journal, Lenovo says it intends to enter the US market for smartphones and will eventually sell the devices in all the markets within which it operates including Australia. Lenovo is currently already the number two smartphone manufacturer in its core domestic market China and has an 11.4 per cent share behind Samsung which controls 17.4 per cent. Whilst the company has little brand recognition for its mobile handset division in other markets it plans to change this by expanding outside of China and into emerging markets to begin with.
- Lenovo To Launch Premium S431 ThinkPad Laptop
PC maker Lenovo says it will launch a new premium laptop from its ThinkPad range. The ThinkPad S431 has a 14 inch screen and will cost about $700.
As mentioned earlier this is a premium laptop that is designed with an emphasis on compactness. This means the S431 will have a 14 inch screen but have a the dimensions of a 13 inch laptop, despite the 14 inch diagonal screen size. The device is extremely thin measuring just 20.5 mm thick. The S431 will also have touch functionality which will mean users can make the most of Windows 8 because the device has a hinge design that allows the user to push the display down 180 degrees.
